the world i seek is a meadow

For the past decade or so, I’ve associated god with plants that grow through cracks in the pavement. Life budding in places where humans have tried to destroy it is holy. It reminds me that we are new here; the world laughs at us and our attempts to control it. Beauty cannot be denied. When I made this zine, it felt like the world was trying to stamp out trans joy. That feels even more true now. And yet, trans joy continues. Despite every attempt to destroy us emotionally, existentially, and, I fear, literally, we are here laughing together and caring for each other and building trans lives. Like plants in the sidewalk, trans joy is holy.

This zine was made as part of a zine-making workshop series I ran with Spartacus Books in Vancouver from late 2024 through early 2025. I made this zine as a sample before the second session.
